Knicks Exercise Option on Collins, NBA Season Starting Soon.

The New York Knicks exercised their option on second year pro Mardy Collins. The Knicks picked up the third year that was agreeed upon in Collins' rookie contract. The 2008-2009 season will be his third year in the NBA, he will be paid close to $1 million.

Also the NBA season is here. The preseason has come and gone and now the real games begin. The Dallas Mavericks begin their season on Wednesday Oct. 31st at Cleveland. The Knicks first game is also at Cleveland on Friday Nov. 2nd.

Kevin Lyde has stuck around long enough with the Utah Jazz that he remains on their current roster. The Jazz being their season on Tuesday Oct. 30th at Golden State.

Collins Sits Out A Few Games To Rest Knee.

A New York Post article indicates New York Knicks Guard Mardy Collins had been sitting out to rest his left knee. Collins had arthroscopic surgery after the 06-07 season and has been trying to recover ever since. He missed the NBA summer league and after pressing too hard in training camp has suffered this setback.
In his return on Wednesday night Mardy played close to 10 minutes scoring 3 points and recording 4 steals. Collins did not attempt a shot from the field but was 3 for 4 from the free throw line.

Dallas and New York Both Take Losses on Thursday Night.

The Dallas Mavericks dropped this game versus the Houston Rockets, 90-104, on Thursday night dropping their preseason record to 2-3. Eddie Jones started and played 21 minutes, scoring 8 points to go along with 1 rebound and 1 assist.

The New York Knicks also dropped a game on Thursday night against the New Jersey Nets, 94-110, dropping their preseason record to 2-2. Mardy Collins did not play in the contest.

Lyde Aims For The NBA as Greer Leaves For Greener Pastures

Former Temple Star Kevin Lyde is on the preseason roster of the Utah Jazz. He has only seen action in Utah's first game, a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, on October 10th. Lyde played 11 scoreless mintues while grabbing three rebounds. Lyde has played the past few seasons in the NBDL, the NBA's developmental league.

Also Lynn Greer, former college teammate of Kevin Lyde, who played last year for the Milwaukee Bucks recently signed a two year contract with Greece's Olympiacos of the Euroleague. Greer had one year remaining on his contract with the Bucks but is guarenteed about $6 million more through his new contract in Greece.

Eddie Jones and the Dallas Mavericks had their fourth preseason game and second victory as the team beat the Sacramento Kings 101-99. Eddie Jones was cold shooting 0-3 from Three point land and 0-5 overall. He scored two points from the foul line. Jones did not start the game but played 21 minutes recording 3 rebounds and 1 assist. The Mavericks are back in action on Thursday the 18th as they face the Houston Rockets.

The New York Knicks, and guard Mardy Collins, are back in action tonight as they face the Boston Celtics in Boston.

Over the next few months this site will bring you information on Mardy Collins (New York Knicks), Eddie Jones (Dallas Mavericks) and others as the 2007-2008 NBA season progresses.

Since the preseason has already begun here is a synopsis of both players named above in their preseason action so far.

Mardy Collins has seen action in both games the New York Knicks have played this preseason, coming off the bench in each contest. He logged 12 scoreless minutes on October 8th vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. Against Philly he did have 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. On October 11th vs Maccabi Tel Aviv he played 15 minutes scoring 10 points (5-7 FGM-A) to go along with 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Eddie Jones has seen action in one game, starting on October 13 vs. the Washington Wizards, logging 14 minutes of action. He scored 4 points (1-3 3PM-A, 1-2 FTA-M) and committed one turnover.
